Hi Friends...

It's been long time, but since I was busy with my other stuff, I couldn't post for long time.

Now let me start with the current season.

As its monsoon here in India. This is the time of year when people get ill too often and with all the precaution they take.

Here are some tips for you to avoid doctors heavy fees.

  1.  Avoid cold things in any form (Drinks, Food, Ice-cream, etc.)
  2. Avoid bath with cold water, at least take lukewarm water for bath.
  3. If possible use Neem leafs. (Keep NEEM leafs in the bucket of water over night, or else you can put them in the water and make them lukewarm then use that water to take bath.) It has anti-fungal properties.
  4. If possible use lukewarm water to drink. If not all the time, at least after taking food you must take at least one and half glass of water.
  5. Use Turmeric powder in milk. One glass (200ml) in morning and one glass at night. It has anti-bacterial effect.
  6. Take minimum quantity of food during night time. So that you will not get indigestion.
  7. If you feel body pain or feverish, then use MahaSudarshana Choorna instead of Paracetamol or any other antipyretic medicines.
  8. Do not use the clothes which are half dry. It may cause fungal infection.
  9. Try to getup as early as possible (5 to 6 AM / Brahma Muharta.)

Arthritis / SandhiVata.

Arthritis

Arthritis is made up of two words, Artho- Joint. and Itis- inflammation. So Arthritis means Inflammation of the Joint / Joints. There are different forms of arthritis but the most commons are, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoritic Arthritis, and in certain form Gouty Arthritis.

Osteoarthritis:

Is degenerative joint disease, it is mostly caused due to trauma / injury to the joint, infection of the joint, and / or age.

Rheumatoid Arthritis:

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a form of autoimmune disease (Means body's immune system starts to attack body tissue.), The attack is not only directed to the joints but it may also effect other parts of the body. In rheumatoid arthritis most damage occurs to the joint lining and cartilages which eventually results in the erosion of the two opposite bones.
RA often affects major joints first, Like Knee joint heap joint, elbow joint, shoulder joint, then gradually it starts affecting the other joints of the body.
If RA is diagnosed earlier then joint damage can be prevented, but if it is not diagnosed then it can lead to the joint deformities, and then after certain time, only treatment available is joint replacement, and that is not for the long time, may be 5 or 10 years or may be 15 yrs maximum.
At present in India, for RA only symptomatic treatment is available. And as said earlier at the end joint replacement surgery is required.

Psoriatic Arthritis:

It is also a form of autoimmune disease, and mostly seen in psoriatic condition.

Gout / Gouty Arthritis:

Gouty Arthritis is a type of arthritis, characterized by sudden attack of pain with redness, warmth, and swelling in the affected joints. It usually attacks only one joint at a time. It usually starts with the big toe (But it doesn't mean that it only starts with the big toe only it may affect any toe.), and then gradually other toes will be involved. It usually occurs in the people with rich protein diet and who doesn't do regular exercises.
The pain and swelling in the Gout are caused due to uric acid crystals building up in the joints and leading to inflammation. The body normally forms uric acid when breaking down cells and proteins, releasing it into the bloodstream. The uric acid usually stays dissolved in the blood and ends up being flushed out by the kidneys,
if there is too much uric acid in the blood, called hyperuricemia or if the kidney can not get rid of it quickly, it may begin to form crystals that collect in the joints, even kidney skin, and other soft tissues.
Certain high protein food can make the body produce too much uric acid, triggering gout.
Beverages such as tea, coffee, cocoa, and especially alcohol in any form lead to extra water loss from the body, can cause an attack. Certain medicine can hamper ability to clear out uric acid, such as diuretics or water pills commonly given to control high blood pressure.
Finally sudden change in diet and weight gain or loss can also lead to gout.

Treatment:

There is no known cure for the rheumatoid or osteoarthritis. Treatment options very depending on the type of arthritis and include physical therapy, lifestyle changes which includes exercise and weight management, orthopaedic bracing and some symptomatic medicine. Joint replacement may be required in eroding form of  arthritis.

In Following Article will write about different types of Arthritis as par AYURVEDA. And there treatment.

Alopecia / IndraLupta.

Alopecia

Alopecia/ Alopecia areata is also known as spot baldness, is an autoimmune disease in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body, usually form the scalp due to failure of the body to recognize its own cells and destroy its tissue as if it were an invader. Often it may causes bald spot on the scalp and in some cases on the chin or any other parts of the body. The condition can spread to the entire scalp or any other part of the body.

Signs & Symptoms:

  • Typical first symptom of the alopecia is bald patches. The  underlying skin is unscarred and looks superficially normal. These patches can take many shapes, but most usually round or oval. Alopecia most often affects the scalp and beard region, but it may occur on any hair bearing part of the body. Different skin areas can exhibit hair loss and regrowth at the same time.
  • The disease may also go into the remission for a time or may be permanent. It is common in children, but that doesn't mean that it wont occur in adults.
  • The hair tends to fall out over a short period of time, with the loss commonly occurring more on one side of scalp than the other.

Diagnosis:

Alopecia is usually diagnosed based on the clinical features.

Causes:

  • Alopecia is not contagious. It occurs more frequently in people who have affected family members suggesting heredity may be a factor.
  • Strong evidence of genetic association with increased risk of Alopecia was found by studying families with two or more affected members.
  • It is slightly more likely to occur in people who have relatives with autoimmune diseases.

Treatment:

There is no specific treatment for the alopecia, in some cases hair regrows after some times, And in other one has to use the cortico steroid for local application and internally as well.

IndraLupta

Our Acharyas have considered this condition under Shiro Rogas, but according to some acharyas it also comes under Kshudra Roga. But the root cause is almost same, because of improper Diet or life style, Vata along with kapha gets aggravated and settle down in the root of the hair follicle, and causes IndraLupta. According to some instead of kapha, pitta comes, when vata gets vitiated along with the pitta and settle in the roots of hair follicles, and obstructs the nourishment by kapha and rakta causes IndraLupta.

Causes:

  • For IndraLupta mainly responsible factors are, Vata + Kapha.
  • But according to some acharyas Vata + Pitta + Sleshama & Rakta vaha Srotas.

Treatment As Par Ayurveda:

  • For the treatment of IndraLupta Acharyas have clearly mentioned some Lepas, as the first line of treatment.
    • (For more detail about Lepa Please contact me, as there are so many Lepas cant write them all here.)
  • Then Rakta Mokshana Karma has to be done properly.
  • When Rakta Mokshana Karma and lep treatments are finished, then only internal medicines has to be given.
  • And When you are giving the internal medicine and Lepa please try to give them in fresh condition, I mean prepare one day prior to administration, or else just one month prior not more then that.

Migraine / Arthavabhedaka

Migraine:

Migraine is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent moderate to severe headache often in association with a number of autonomic nervous system symptoms.

Typically the headache affects one half of the head, pain is pulsating in nature, and lasts from 2 to 48 hours. Associated symptoms may include nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light, sound or smell. The pain is generally made worse by the physical activities.

Migraine is believed to be due to a mixture of environment and genetic factors. About two third of cases run in families. Even changing hormone levels may also play a role in this.

The exact mechanism of migraine are not known, However a number if psychological conditions are associated, including depression and anxiety, it also believed to be a neuro-vascular disorder. The primary theory is related to increased excitability of cerebral cortex and abnormal control of pain neurons in the trigeminal nucleus of the brain stem.

For migraine some triggering factors are also there like stress, hunger, and fatigue (these factors equally contributes to tension headache.) Psychological stress has also been reported as a factor by 50% to 80% of people. Migraine has also been associated with post-traumatic stress disorder and abuse. Migraine is more likely to occur around menstruation. Other hormonal influences, such as menarche, oral contraceptives use, pregnancy,(Migraine typically do not occur during the second and third trimesters.) pre-menopause and menopause(Even after menopause it usually will not occur.) also play a vital role.

For the treatment of Migraine
There are three main aspects of treatment

  • Avoid trigger,
  • Acute symptomatic control and
  • pharmacological prevention.
Medication are more effective if used earlier in an attack. The frequent use of medications may result in medication overuse headache, in which the headaches become severe and more frequent. This may occur with triptans, ergotamines and analgesics, especially narcotic analgesics. Due to these concerns simple analgesics are recomended to be used less than three days per week at most.

Long term prognosis in people with migraines is variable. Most people with migraines have periods of lost productivity due to their disease, however typically the condition is fairly benign and is not associated with an increased risk of death.

Arthavabhedaka:

According to Ayurveda Arthavabhedaka is when VATA dosa becomes kupita because of improper diet or improper life style and when it is association with the KAPHA dosa and settled in Shiras bhaga (Head region) it may cause the arthavabhedaka roga (Diseases).

Now aggravated VATA and KAPHA dosa, will cause severe pain in the half part of the head and it will also cause severe pain in facial region, ear, eyes, and half of the forehead. Pain will be severe and its pricking type.

In this according to Ayurveda, there is no psychological, or even environmental reason explained. But if you go deep then as its mentioned in the beginning that Arthavabhedaka is because of improper diet and / or improper lifestyle so we can include that lifestyle may include environment reason.

For the treatment of Arthavabhedaka, acharyas have clearly mentioned that, firstly one has to discontinue the reason which is responsible for the Arthavabhedaka, if you give the best medicine for the disease but the main cause of the disease is same then nothing will work on the disease and before starting the actual treatment one has to undergo for the NASYA karma firstly then only internal medication can be given.

Along with the medication certain dietary advised should be given which we are following in our clinic, If person is not ready to follow the diet then I kindly request you all, not to take such patient because if you take such patient then the actual disease wont be cured as you might have expected it, n moreover it will defame you.

Misconcept about Ayurveda

Ayurveda: What is it?

आयुर्वेद प्रयोजन.

स्वथ्यस्य स्वास्थ्य रक्षणम्।आतुरस्य विकार प्रशमनम च॥

Ayurveda is for the people who want to preserve there health and to the one who want to get cured, Basic of Ayurveda is for the healthy individual as well and not just for the diseased one.

Now a days people know that its a medical science, but Ayurveda is not just a medical science its a way of life. Ayurveda teaches us how to live our life healthly. Now even W.H.O has also changed defination of the healthy individual, "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not only merely absence of disease or infirmity."Health is no longer defined simply in physical term, as the absence of disease or disability, but now includes mental and social dimensions. This definition of healthy individual Ayurveda has described thousands of years before.

Now during this time people has some misconcept regarding Ayurveda, and even some of Ayurvedic practitioner also leading the people on wrong way, saying that Ayurvedic medicine has no expiry dates and even the worse that Ayurvedic medicine has no side effect.

Every one who studied Ayurveda knows some of the Ayurvedic medicine has its own self life period and during that time only the preparation will give the desirable result, and after that some medicine's efficacy will be reduced. But now a days to increase self life of any medicine some Ayurvedic companies add preservatives in it, eventhough because of preservatives life of medicine will be increased but then also it will not reach the level of freshly prepared medicine. Now again question come that if it is so then why to use such prepared medicine, answer for that is certain Ayurvedic plants gives there fruits or flowers in certain atmosphere and in certain seasons only, so for that if fresh medicine is not available one can use those prepared medicine, but in that one has to look for the expire date also, as because of preservatives medicines property will remain for certain time only. Now some of the Ayurvedic medicine retains there properties even after 10 years, like some BHASMA and AASAV ARISTAS.

Now one more big misconcept about Ayurveda that it will not have any side effect, now for this I just want to in form you that some Ayurvedic medicines are banned in America and European countries as some Ayurvedic medicine contains heavy metal which is banned in those countries. Because if those metal's purification will not be proper then that can lead to certain major diseases as well. And some time patient will not be knowing that there disease is may be because of those medicine, and only certified Ayurvedic practitioner knows the duration to take such medicine. And to buy any of the medicine which contains metals always go for the standard company as they take proper care to purification on the mettle, even though it will be costly but to avoid side effects.

Now in recent time I came to know about one more Ayurvedic medicine's scandal, I just want to drow ur attention, Some Ayurvedic company use the powder of Allopathic medicine and directly give that to patient, patient might not be knowing about it, so be sure what ur purchasing and from whom you are purchasing, always see for the batch no, company licence no as well.

If you find any thing or if you have doubt just go for its lab investigation or report it to food and drug department. So that they can investigate properly.
Being Ayurvedic practitioner it is my duty to drow your attention towards such things.

Be healthy and safe. Enjoy you life.

"Happy New Year 2016"
